• Each LAN has their own connection to the WAN and thus from a LAN you can connect through the WAN you are connected to to another LAN.
• We rely on the internet because it is the fastest and (most of the time) the cheapest way to communicate, to get information we need and for entertainment.
  If the entire network were to fail, most of our communication would fail and a lot of people wouldn't have access to their entertainment. A lot of systems (such as banks) use the internet and would also thus fail.
